Meet the Ninjas

About Us

The Nonfiction Ninjas are a group of nonfiction authors who first met at a retreat at the Writing Barn in Austin, TX. We became fast friends and realized we have a passion for nonfiction that we want to share with you. We started this website, and some of us, as the Nonfiction Chicks, put together the NF Fest challenge.  Watch this website for more news and events, and subscribe to our blog!

Animals and humans express their immeasurable love for their kids in this endearing book. Grab your little one and snuggle in close as eagles, squirrels, whales, and more describe a love bigger than the sky, taller than the trees, and wider than the sea. With a cushy, padded cover and adorable illustrations, this book is the perfect way to say "I love you."

School Library Journal called this picture book biography of African American artist Laura Wheeler Waring, who used her paintbrush to bring African American portraits to America’s museums, “a meticulously crafted account of a trailblazing artist.” This A Mighty Girl pick features illustrations by veteran Houston-based artist Felicia Marshall. Published by Creston Books/Lerner Books.

Award-winning picture book author Nancy Churnin captures the spirit of poet, professor and social activist Katharine Lee Bates, who wrote “America the Beautiful” as a gift that she hoped would help heal her country that had been torn apart by the Civil War during her childhood. Illustrated by Olga Baumert. Published by Albert Whitman & Company.
